Jan backed the trailer to the paddock gate and jumped out. She had chosen the smallest paddock, just bigger than large round pen. She opened the gate and lowered the ramp of the trailer, and then entered, talking quietly to Rampage. She made soothing noises and took hold of his halter, backing him down the ramp. She got him out and took the blindfold off, and rubbed his neck before stepping back.

The stallion could sense that this human was different. She seemed to care, yet he didn't trust anyone really, yet. His eyes searched around the area, nostriles flaring, head high and tail held up. He was sweating from the trailer ride, but was nervous too. He had never been here before, everything was different. He trotted away from Jan and cantered around the paddocks gates. He halted a short ways away from Jan and stared at her, trying to figure out what she was going to do.

Jan turned away from him, standing with her back facing him as she pretended to stare over the farm and into the mountains. Her goal was to ignore him until he became curious enough to trust her into letting her brush him. She just wanted to turn and fling herself onto his back, riding through the trails, bonding, but from past experience, that didn't work so well. She hoped this did.

The stallion was confused when Jan looked away from him. What was she looking at? He blew out of his nose in frusturation. He would need to go to her to see where she was looking. Rampage pawed at the soft earth before taking an uneasy step forwards. His eyes shifted over the land, nothing unusual, just a normal human farm. His eyes landed back on Jan. His mind was arguing back and forth with itself. Why not, 'cuz they abuse horses, this one might be different, they're all the same... It continued with that. He trotted forward without realizing it, it was mostly to get away from the annoyance in his head, the stupid thoughts. Well now he was only a few paces away from here, so why not just keep going. What is she going to do? Chase you? The thought made him laugh inwardly. He walked forward and smelt a familiar smell of oats or treats or something. He couldn't help but bump her hard in the back then sniff her back pockets for treats with his large head.

Jan didn't turn, just held her hand out to her side, and stepped to her left. She was grinning, but didn't want to frighten the stallion. Where she stood, she had purposefully dropped a chunk of carrot. She held her hand over it, so Rampage would have to trust her enough to duck under her hand and retrieve the treat. She held her breath...
