Jan woke up in an uncomfortable hospital chair, blinking. She suddenly remembered why she was there, and jumped up. She hurried into the ER, but Emmy wasn't there, just a pale man with his wife. She flashed them a smile and hurried into Emmy's room. "How are you?" SHE asked the girl, upon seeing that she was awake.

((maybe I will start a soap opera! lol))
The trip to the hospital was nothing but a blurr. I vaguely remember being loaded in the first place, Jan holding my hand, and then being rushed to the ER. What a night, and the doctors results were the most annoying, if not for the beeping machines
"Your leg is broken." So THAT'S why I have a cast on! "Thank god for the ambulance or you might not have made it." No, I could have just walked. "You've got 3 ribs broken." Out of how many? "We'll need your parents number...." It's not like they're dead or anything. Sure I'll give you their number. "You won't be able to ride for a long while either." No, ya think???
Everything after that was just a load of "Blah blah's" as I tried not to fall asleep. Soon enough, he left and I was left alone until Jan walked through the door. "I'm doing fine. How's Sox?" I asked urgently.

"She'd fine, I called the stable last night to check in. They saw Briar andSox come in, so they took care of them.'' Jan sat in the uncomfortable plastic chair beside Emmy's bed and smiled gently. "Want me to go get you that soda, and bring it back?" Jan stood, but then sat again. "Except, I dont have my truck here, its on the other side of town.." She grinned. "I'll catch a taxi back later,," Jan said, touching er cell phone. "So what did the doctor say?"

"What did the doctor say? The obvious. My leg is broken, three ribs are broken, and somethin' about how I won't be able to ride anytime soon. Everything you probably already knew." I smiled. "He said that I should be able to go home soon too. I can't wait to get out of this crappy bed and into my own at home!" I exclaimed, smiling. It was odd, how I could smile and laugh through something like this. I just got it that I guess! "And don't worry about the soda! I'd rather go with you!"

"That sucks," Jan said, referring to the injuries. "But hey, I can help with Sox's behaviour while you're here...speaking of Sox, I'd better get back to the stables. I'll visit tomorrow, I swear!" Jan stood, gave her a hug, and called a taxi before leaving the hospital. SHe felt terrible about leaving her friend.

I returned Jan's hug before waving as she left the room and eventually the hospital. Though I had laughed and joked about not being able to ride Sox, I felt this new feeling inside of me. A fear, a fear of getting on the back of my horse again. I sighed before grabbing a remote and turning on the tv that had been bolted in the corner of the ceiling. I felt kind of lonely, but eventually drifted off into a well-earned sleep.

Jan stepped into the room the next day, holding a beautiful bouquet of roses. She placed them in a vase beside her friend's bed and sat down, setting the bag she was carrying beside her. From the tote bag she drew a handful of the latest horse magazines and placed them on her friend's table. Jan picked up a mag and began to leaf through it while she waited for her friend to awaken. After fifteen minutes, Jan stood and stretched, and with one last glance at Emmy, hurried to the cafeteria downstairs to grab a hot chocolate and a muffin, suddenly realizing how hungry she was.

My eyes fluttered open slowly, and I was instantly met with a dull pain. I groaned slightly at the soreness and urged myself to sit up. I blinked a few times, clearing my head. The room was dizzy for a moment, but then everything came back into focus. Thank god too, I just couldn't live if there was something wrong with my eyes! I glanced over the room quite quickly before my gaze landed on the small nightstand that stood close to the bed. I smiled as I saw the bouquet of roses, they were very beautiful. I looked down and saw a few horse magazines, and I instantly knew that Jan had been here already. I picked one up and leafed through them, awaiting Jan's return. She was still here, I knew this because she had left her bag! I hoped she had brought money if she was going to the cafeteria!

Jan returned soon and sat next to Emmy. "How you feeling?" She sipped her hot chocolate and held out a muffin. "Hungryy?"
